Production Expertise:

Americhip has been producing innovative custom electronics for more than 25 years. We have  developed, produced and secured patents on many breakthrough technologies in the marketing field  including:

  • LEDs
  • Music Chips
  • Sound Chips
  • Voice Technologies
  • LCD
  • OLED

From our 30,000 square-foot headquarters in Los Angeles, our team of engineers, programmers,  designers and production managers oversee our research and development efforts. We also have a  WFOE (Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise) in China where we employ Quality Assurance and  Production Managers who coordinate with our factory partners to manage production on every job.  Our products are manufactured under the direct supervision of Americhip personnel.

As we work with large global brands and ad agencies, we have become experts in all of the critical  manufacturing elements including production, quality assurance, regulatory requirements, safety,  shipping and logistics. For many of our customers’ campaigns, we use independent testing labs to  ensure compliance with RoHS, FCC, CPSIA, Age Grading and other regulatory requirements.

Our first order was a magazine insert for CBS and Pepsi that was bound into Entertainment Weekly.  From that initial order through the nearly 3500 custom projects that followed, Americhip directly  manages and oversees every step of the design and production process. All of the front-end design and  prototyping is done in our US headquarters. Our engineers and production managers work with our  customer on specs, layout and functionality to ensure our clients get the exact product they need for  their specific campaign.

Patent Portfolio: Video in Print, Video Blades & Video Micro Shelf Talkers

Americhip invented Video in Print in 2009 and currently holds approximately 15 US and worldwide  patents protecting the technology and related product designs. Our first Video in Print patent (U.S.  Patent No. 8,011,122) was issued in 2011. Our initial design was for a folded structure that  immediately begins playing video when opened, and provides consumers with the control to view  additional videos by activating chapter buttons. This design still serves as the standard template for the  majority of Video in Print products we produce for our global clients. And, it’s precisely what we  patented in the ‘122 patent. This patent covers any folding print media that plays video when it is first  opened, and then plays additional videos through the chapter buttons. (‘122 patent, Claims 1 & 7.) Our  design patents cover a wide range of video-in-print designs, including many of the most common and  popular designs.

New “Locked Video in Print”

In a recent re-examination, the PTO approved an additional claim limitation for Americhip’s ‘122  patent stating that once the content has been programmed onto the unit the memory is then permanently  locked (Patent #8,011,122 (Reexam No. 10,880)). This new claim is extremely important to all of our  clients, but especially to our larger partners where brand and product integrity are critical. Americhip alone can offer the patented technology that ensures “tamper proof” content. Given the significant  investment our clients make in their Video in Print campaigns and the sensitive nature of their content,  a critical reason that companies work with Americhip is that we are the only Video in Print supplier  who can offer the peace of mind of knowing that nobody in the marketplace can maliciously or  childishly tamper with content.
